Can I cancel my Jetstar flight?

The cancellation and refund rules depend on your ticket fare and also on the add-ons you’ve purchased with your flight. Jetstar give you a lot of options!
Jetstar Fare types
Jetstar offers two fare types: Starter fare and Business Class fare. Once you’ve chosen your fare you can begin to customise your flight. Depending on which fare you choose you’ll have a range of options so you can make sure your flight is right for you. Inclusions such as refundable fares and changes to origins and destinations are only available on some fare types.
Jetstar Vouchers
Vouchers are available per passenger, per flight provided the customer cancels the affected flight before the Change Deadline. Vouchers will be sent by email within 24 hours. The voucher can only be used for new a booking that includes the original travelling passenger. The voucher is available for use in a single transaction up to the voucher value. Add-ons (excluding hotels, activities, insurance and car hire) can only be refunded in the form of a Jetstar Voucher when requested as part of a cancellation of the applicable flight. Jetstar change deadline
For changes made on the same day of your scheduled flight departure, changes can be made at Jetstar.com, Jetstar App or the Call Centre before the original scheduled flight opens for check-in at the airport. Alternatively, changes can be made at the Jetstar counter at the airport before the original scheduled flight closes for check-in at the airport. Time and Date changes can be made via Jetstar.com if your original booking was made via Jetstar.com or Jetstar Call Centre. All changes can be made via Jetstar Call Centre or Jetstar counter at the airport and additional service fees apply if your booking was not originally made via the Jetstar Call Centre. Missed check-in deadline or failure to board within the required time
If you have booked a Business Class fare, Business Class fare with Max bundle and Starter fare with Max bundle, you can make changes or request a refund only if requested by the Change Deadline and upon payment of any applicable fare difference or fee. However, if you have booked a Starter fare, Starter fare with Flex bundle, or Starter fare with Plus bundle, the fare is non-refundable and thus results in a loss of fare.
Can I cancel my Jetstar flight and get a refund?
Yes! However, this will depend on your fare type. Find out below if you are eligible for a refund from Jetstar.

Jetstar Vouchers are available for cancellations before Change Deadline (see Change deadline section above)
A Jetstar Voucher is not available if you have changed to a Starter fare with a Flex bundle after making your original booking, or if you request a voucher after the Change Deadline.
For cancellation of Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings made under Flex fare rules, the value of the booking including any Add-ons will be credited to a Jetstar Voucher.

Refunds for cancellations made within the Change Deadline will be in Jetstar Credit Vouchers
For cancellation of Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings initiated on Qantas.com where the use of Qantas Points (Jetstar Points Plus Pay) checkbox was selected, under Max fare rules, the refundable portion of Qantas Points will be re-credited to the Member’s account and the refundable portion of any money payments will be refunded to the original form of payment used, less the refund fee.
For cancellation of all other Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings, under Max fare rules, the value of the booking including any Add-ons will be credited to a Jetstar Voucher.
You may be entitled to a refund or alternative flight under law or our Conditions of Carriage, in which case no fees apply.
Business Class fare
Non-refundable, except if you are entitled to a remedy by law or under Jetstar’s Condition of Carriage
Business Class fare with Max bundle
Refundable for a fee per passenger, per booking if your original booking was a Business Class fare with Max bundle.
Fees are subject to change and are applied at the rate current at time of change. For current fees see Fees and charges.
Refunds must be requested before the end of the day of your original scheduled departure.
Your fare is non-refundable if you have changed to Business Class fare with Max bundle after making your original booking or if you request a refund after the end of the day of the scheduled departure.
For cancellations of Points Plus Pay – Flights bookings made under Max fare rules, the refundable portion of Qantas Points will be re-credited to the Member’s account and the refundable portion of any money payments will be refunded to the original form of payment used, less the refund fee.

If your fare is non-refundable, and you choose not to travel, contact Jetstar and they will refund certain third-party charges and taxes, excluding fuel and insurance surcharges. If you request a refund of these third-party charges and taxes, the following administration fee applies, unless otherwise exempted by applicable law. If this administration fee exceeds the amount of the available refund, no refund will be paid and no administration fee will be applied. Applies per passenger, per booking.

Can I change my Jetstar booking?
Yes! Jetstar allow date, time and destination changes for their flights. However, the type of changes you can make and the applicable fees depend on the fare type you have purchased. Below you will find detailed information on changes that are permitted for each individual fare class, along with the relevant fees.

Can I change the name on my Jetstar booking?
Yes! Jetstar allow name changes. This means that if you cannot travel and cannot cancel your flight, you can still sell it to someone else and get your refund that way. The name change fees depend on the fare type you have purchased. Below you will find name change fees for each individual fare class. Name changes can be made for an individual passenger on a booking, but must apply to all flights for that passenger. This means that you cannot fly the outbound flight yourself and then change the name for the inbound flight.
Starter fare
Name changes are permitted for a fee and you also have to pay for any differences in the flight fare, within Change Deadline.
Name changes are not permitted for Qantas Frequent Flyer Points Plus Pay, Flight bookings on Jetstar or JAL Mileage bookings.
For Club Jetstar member exclusive fare bookings, where the Club Jetstar member is the individual passenger subject to a name change, other passengers on that booking will no longer be eligible for the Club Jetstar exclusive member fare. Change Fee and fare difference will apply to the name change from the Club Jetstar member, and fare difference will apply to all other passengers on that booking
Starter fare with Flex bundle
Name changes are permitted but you have to pay the fare difference within the Change Deadline.
