Have you booked a hotel, flight or holiday package with Priceline and are wondering if you can cancel or change your booking? Are you not sure if or how you can receive a refund for your Priceline booking? In general, Priceline’s change and cancellation policies depend completely on the independent supplier that you bought your travel booking with. This means that if you bought a flight through Priceline and want to cancel it, your ability to do so depends on the airline’s cancellation policies and their terms and conditions. This is also the case for hotels and holiday packages. Continue reading as we have broken down the cancellation/change policies for flights, hotels and holiday packages bought with Priceline. Make sure you understand the terms well before you cancel or change your booking with Priceline, as you may have to pay cancellation fees and charges and they can be significant.

Can I cancel or change my Priceline hotel accommodation? 

Have you bought a hotel accommodation with Priceline and need to cancel or make changes to your reservation? As mentioned before, if you have booked a hotel room through Priceline, your ability to cancel or change it, depends on the hotel’s terms and conditions. Because of this, some reservations may be non-cancellable, non-changeable and/or non-refundable. Some may charge you a cancellation fee, while others may be completely refundable. Make sure to check the cancellation policy of the hotel before you book. 

If you booked an Express Deals®, a Priceline deal in which the full itinerary is revealed only after you book - your reservation is non-refundable, non-changeable and non-cancellable. Priceline may be able to add nights or rooms to your reservation, but they cannot make any other changes.

If you booked a hotel through the Name Your Own Price® program, in which you bid for your hotel, your reservation is non-refundable, non-changeable and non-cancellable.

If you booked a hotel other than an Express Deals® or Name Your Own Price®, you may be able to change or cancel the reservation depending on the hotel’s cancellation policy. You’ll see your hotel’s cancellation policy prior to booking. You can also find your hotel’s cancellation policy within your itinerary. You can find your itinerary by going to My Trips on the Priceline homepage.

Can I cancel or change the flight I booked through Priceline?

Did you book your flight with Priceline and you are not sure whether you are able to cancel your flight and if you will be able to receive a refund? Do you need to make changes to your booking but are not sure whether you can do so? It all depends on the individual airline’s cancellation and change policies which you can find in their terms and conditions. If the airline allows you to make changes to your reservation you will be able to do so through Priceline. If a cancellation is permitted, you will see a link within your itinerary. Although, it is important to note that airlines typically charge you a change fee that ranges between $200 and $300 USD per ticket. Priceline will also charge you a processing fee charged per ticket. Express Deals-Priceline deals, in which the full itinerary is revealed only after you book, are non-changeable and non-refundable. Other reservations may be more flexible. You can view your flight’s fare rules on the contract before you book, and on your itinerary after you book. You can find your itinerary by going to check status on the Priceline homepage.

If you booked in the last 24 hours you may be able to cancel for free. If that is the case, you will see a "Cancel Itinerary" link within your online itinerary. However, this is not available on all tickets, so if you don’t see this option, your airline does not allow this.

How can I recover more money from my Priceline reservation?

Is your Priceline purchase non-cancellable or non-refundable? Are you not able to receive all the money you would like from your Priceline reservation? Have you ever thought of selling your booking to another traveller and receiving your refund this way? All you need to do is change the names on your reservation to the person you are selling it to and pay the associated name change fees. 

If you are based in the European Union, Priceline is obligated to allow you to change the names of the travellers on a package holiday, thanks to the European Package Travel Directive. Sometimes they can do this for the whole booking, sometimes they may not be able to change the names for the flights – this will depend on your airline. You can check our list of airlines, which allow name changes to see if yours does. 

If you have a package holiday but cannot change the name of the flight, you can still change the name on the hotel booking and at least sell that. It is still much better than paying 100% cancellation charges!  

If you are allowed to change the passenger name for your flight, your airline will always charge you a name change fee. Hotels usually do not charge anything for name changes. You can change the passenger names via your online account or contacting Priceline by phone or email. The price to change the name of a passenger on the booking will be shown to you before you process the request, so you will know exactly how much it will cost you.
