Can I cancel my Norwegian Air flight?

Do you have a Norwegian flight you can no longer use? Here you can learn about the cancellation options, flight change and name change rules for your flight.

Norwegian Airlines have different cancellation policies for different types of ticket fares. The rules and fees are different for each type, so make sure you check first what fare is your ticket.

Are Norwegian Air flights refundable?

LowFare, LowFare+ and Premium tickets can be canceled within 4 hours of booking and you will be refunded. If more than 4 hours have passed since you purchased the flight, you can still cancel the ticket, but you won’t get a refund. Flex and PremiumFlex tickets will be fully refunded if you cancel or don’t use your flight. You can cancel your booking online up to 30 minutes before departure.

Norwegian cancellation protection

If you've purchased Cancellation Protection, you'll get a full ticket refund from Norwegian Air if you're unable to travel because you or a close family member falls ill. It costs £9 per person per booking. It can only be ordered online at Norwegian Air when you book your ticket and can't be added to an existing booking. So if you haven’t already purchased it, you can’t add it now.

How to use the cancellation protection

You can use it only if you can’t travel because you or a close family member are ill. You'll need to produce an original medical certificate to request a refund and proof of family relationship if a family member is ill. Norwegian Air does not cover cancellations made for the following medical reasons: examination, treatment and/or admittance to hospital which was planned before your flight was booked, elective surgery.

How can I request a refund from Norwegian Air?

To request a refund you need to:

  1. Cancel your ticket up to 30 minutes before departure by calling Norwegian Air’s Contact Centre

  2. Send them an original medical certificate from your doctor specifying the nature of your illness for the relevant travel date(s)

  3. Send them documentation of your family relationship (if applicable)

  4. Once Norwegian Air has received these documents, they will transfer the refund to the card used to book the flight.

Submit your claim to Norwegian Air online

Now that you know what to do, you can submit your claim online.
